Gender identity is how individuals see themselves as female, male, both, or other. Gender identity empowerment is the empowerment of people of any gender. This idea focuses on the distinction between biological sex and gender as a role. Its main goal is for everyone to be treated fairly regardless of gender identity.
Many people have suffered from restricting their self expression because of extreme pressure from outside forces such as friends, family, and society. Containing these feelings and personal preferences may lead to mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression.
Fortunately, people today are more open-minded and some are more open to accepting our own differences, especially gender identity empowerment. Agender is a term that can be translated literally as “without a specific gender.” It can be interpreted as either non-binary gender identity or a statement of not having a gender identity, depending on your perspective. People who identify themselves as Agender can call themselves genderless, gender-neutral, or neutrois.
Agender people, being classified as “genderless”, can use whatever pronouns they want, although some still prefer to use the gendered language themselves as much as possible. They can present them in any way, such as male, female, both, or something outside of the binary. The inability to express one’s gender identity in a comfortable way for one’s gender identity can result in gender dysphoria for transgender people, and to overcome, you’ll need the help of a professional specialized in such cases.
Women are more likely to use this term to describe how they express masculinity or what society considers to be masculine. This term also represents a woman’s masculinity which is commonly referred to as tomboy.
Bigender is another gender identity that can be translated as “double gender.” Bigender people have two gender identities, which they can have either simultaneously or alternate between. The two genders may not only be male and female but can also be non-binary and non-traditional gender roles.
Bigender individuals may also identify themselves as multigender, non-binary, or transgender. Some bigender people believe their gender identity changes over time depending on circumstances.
The term non-binary can have a different meaning for different people. It can be an umbrella of all the gender identities that don’t fall into the male and female gender categories.
Although it appears to be quite complicated, it is very easy to understand when detailed. A trans nonbinary person is someone who does not identify with the sex assigned to them at birth and has a gender identity that does not fall into the male and female categories.
Cisgender is when people identify themselves with genders that are matched to the sex assigned to them at birth. This is also commonly called “straight”, which also means that you are attracted both sexually and romantically to the opposite sex only.
Suppressing your emotions and desires can cause emotional and physical harm, so accepting who you are brings more balance to your life. The feeling of unease or dissatisfaction that comes with gender dysphoria can be so intense that it can cause depression and anxiety and negatively impact daily life.
